Texon elevates responsibility for sustainability commitment & ‘zero waste’ ambition to newly appointed director

Texon has strengthened its commitment to becoming a zero waste organization by 2025 by raising responsibility for sustainability to director level. Boyd Mulder, who recently joined the Texon Management Team as Group Director for New Product Development & Innovation (NPDI), is now in charge of driving sustainability throughout the entire organization. In his new role, Boyd will have the task of seamlessly embedding sustainability throughout Texon’s value chain and its entire portfolio of material solutions.

Texon elevates responsibility for sustainability commitment & ‘zero waste’ ambition to newly appointed director

In February, Texon announced that, over the next five years, it will attempt to reduce its carbon footprint by 50%; cut the use of virgin materials by 50%; ensure that 90% of waste is recyclable or reusable; and reduce water usage and waste by 20%.

To help Texon deliver its goals, Boyd will lead the global execution of the company’s strategic roadmap for its product and marketing organization. Specifically, he will focus on further strengthening Texon’s product innovation pipeline and ensuring the business continues to deliver world-class material solutions for customers with an even stronger focus on sustainability. As such, Boyd will work across all Texon locations worldwide but will spend most of his time at the company’s manufacturing facility in Skelton, UK.

Jelle Tolsma, CEO of Texon, said: “Operating in a sustainable way has always been a priority for our business - but we aspire to do even more. Boyd’s expertise in leading end-to-end global business teams, and his experience in brand strategy and sustainability, will be advantageous as we continue to drive forward our environmental efforts. Our aim is to remain at the forefront of our industry - spearheading the manufacture of innovative materials that meet changing industry trends and customer needs, and have a low impact on our planet.”

Previously, Boyd worked at electronics giant Philips, in senior executive roles for global and regional businesses across three continents – before running his own business management consultancy in Hong Kong. Boyd’s expertise lies in business development and sustainability with a focus on scaling up companies, product management and organizational development.
